GARMENT CARE
Think twice before washing your clothes. Washing garments too often can actually cause damage to the fibres and hence decrease the lifespan. This is especially true with dry cleaning, which uses harmful chemicals that flatten the natural fibre follicles in some fabrics.
If an item isn’t dirty but just needs freshening up, rather than slinging it in the wash bin, try hanging it outside or in a steamy bathroom to breath first.
How to Care for Your Maia Piece
Our garments are thoughtfully crafted using delicate fabrics and considered finishes. To ensure longevity:
• Gently hand wash in cold water
• Alternatively, use a delicate machine cycle
• Keep spin on low
• Avoid soaking
• Do not wring
• Air dry in shade
Treat it with care — and it will stay beautiful season after season.
Wash at low temperatures
When the time does come to do a clothes wash, wash at lower temperatures or cold water. “Wash clothes at a low temperature with a gentle and natural laundry detergent to keep the fabric clean and soft, and also to prevent colour fading,
Wash inside out
“An extra handy tip is to wash clothes inside out when machine washing, and to avoid overfilling, as this can cause friction and damage the fibres,” adds Chris.
Delicate Fabric Care Notice – Satin & Fine Blends
Our satin and delicate fabrics are designed for a soft, fluid, elevated finish. Due to the nature of these fibres, they require mindful handling.
Please take extra care to avoid:
• Rough or textured surfaces
• Friction from bags or crossbody straps
• Sharp jewellery, watches, bracelets or nails
• Sitting on abrasive seating
• Overloading in washing machines
• Soaking or high heat
Satin fabrics are naturally prone to snagging, pulling and surface marking when exposed to friction or sharp contact.
Please note:
Pulls, snags, friction damage or surface alterations caused by wear, improper washing or external contact are not considered manufacturing faults.
We strongly recommend gentle care to preserve the beauty and longevity of your garment.
Proper handling is essential to maintain the garment’s condition.
